JOHN B. BOYD
John Boyd founded the law firm with Terry Connaughton in November, 1983. He had been a Workers' Compensation judge for nearly seven years, and before that was a claims attorney for an insurance company.
A Sedalia native, John is a 1971 graduate of Central Missouri State University with a B.S. in Business Administration, and a December 1974 graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree.
He was licensed to practice in Missouri in May 1975, and is licensed to appear before all Missouri courts, the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
John is a member of the , the (where he serves as Vice-Chairman of the workers' compensation committee), the , and the . He has served as Vice President, Governor, and member of the Executive Committee for MATA. He has served as Chairman of ATLA's . He has served as editor of Workplace Injury Litigator, and has written several articles relating to workers' compensation issues.
He has lectured extensively on subjects relating to workers' compensation issues and testified before legislative committees of the Missouri House and Senate. He has also attended multiple sponsored national training seminars at the .

JOHN RICHARD BOYD
J.R. is the oldest son of founding member, John B. Boyd.
A Blue Springs, Missouri native, J.R. graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1987. He then attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he was an active member of the Gamma Kappa chapter of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He later attended the Oklahoma City University School of Law and graduated with his Juris Doctor degree in 1994.
J.R. has been licensed to practice in Missouri since April 1995 and is licensed before all Missouri courts; the for the Eighth Circuit; and the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. He is currently a member of the , the (Chairman of the Workers' Compensation Committee 2000-2001), the , and the . He is also an active member of the and has lectured at continuing legal education seminars on workers' compensation issues.
J.R. was elected Managing Partner of the Firm in July 2002.
J.R. recently was elected to the Board of Governors for the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, a position held previously by his father, John B. Boyd (1984 to 1991, 1998 to 2001) and currently by Jerry Kenter (2002 to present).

Jerry Kenter is a 1967 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where he received his B.A. degree. He also has done graduate work at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
He received his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in December 1974. He served over 3 1/2 years in the United States Air Force and one year in Southeast Asia. He is a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Jerry is the author of the two-volume work, Missouri Workers' Compensation, and is the consulting editor and an author of about half of the Second Edition of this work, which is considered the authority for all attorneys who practice in the workers' compensation field in Missouri.
He has written several articles for the Journal of the Missouri Bar and is a member of SCRIBES, the American Society of Writers on Legal Subjects.
Jerry is a member of the , a past chairman of the Missouri Bar Workers' Compensation Committee, and the Workers' Compensation Committee of the . He is also on the Board of Governors of the and the . Jerry also practices in the area of disability law and discrimination.

SUSAN J. FERSHEE
Susan J. Fershee earned a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1988. Following graduation, she began a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Thomas C. Clark in the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of Missouri.
Since 1990, Ms. Fershee has exclusively represented claimants for social security disability benefits and/or supplemental security income (SSI). Her representation of disability claimants includes appealing their cases at all levels of appeal, both administrative and federal.
Ms. Fershee was born on April 20, 1947, in Battle Creek, Michigan. In 1969, she graduated cum laude with a B.A. in German from Maryville College, Maryville, Tennessee. She then spent a year as a Fulbright scholar in German literature at the University of Tübingen in Germany, and earned an M.A. in German literature from The Ohio State University in 1972. After teaching German and French at an Indiana university for two years, she became a professional translator and worked in international business for ten years with the Faultless Starch/Bon Ami Company in Kansas City, Missouri.
Ms. Fershee is a sustaining member of the . She is a member and past officer of the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City. She is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys. She is an active member of Country Club United Methodist Church.
